About Monkey Magic

Monkey Magic invites Surry Hills diners on a journey through Asia: combining traditional Oriental flavours with a subtle Western style. Final destination? Modern Japanese cuisine with a touch of New York flair.

Like the popular TV-show of the 1980s, Monkey Magic combines Asian influences with modern western techniques. Head-chef Hidetoshi Tsuboi cherry-picks the defining aspects of different cultures, using premium local produce.

The menu is made to share and invites the diner to indulge in a little bit of everything. Appetizers are light and fresh, such as the Crab Leaves - premium crabmeat bedded on a betel leave with a touch of spice. Larger dishes include the signature Monkey Magic Sushi Platter, where each nigiri is dressed in an individual complementing sauce.

Monkey Magic offers vegetarians a wide range of options, like the Monkey Magic Salad – a funky Asian take on a traditional garden salad with witlof, chard, mizuna, radish and baby beetroot tossed in a white yuyzu citrus pepper dressing.
